Asian Secrets Lulur Body Scrub | Review

12.26.2015
It's been a while since I've added a post here in my blog. Well I have been busy with a lot of things but I still want to take care of my skin. Lately I've been looking for body scrubs that can really do the job, then my friend recommended Asian Secrets Lulur Body Scrub. Before purchasing anything I search for reviews if the product is worth it, so far all of it was a thumbs up! Intriguingly I bought the smallest tub to try it.

Asian Secrets Lulur Body Scrub has been in the market for a while now and many proves it to be effective. It is commonly used as a beauty treatment ritual called Lulur "to coat the skin" for the bride-to-be. The ritual was intended to smoothen, and whiten skin before the wedding day. The Lulur beads gently exfoliates the skin, unlike other scrubs that are a bit harsh, to smoothen and give a radiant glow.

There are three variants:
- Green Tea
- Licorice
- Seaweed

Right now what I have is the Green Tea Scrub extract with Vitamin E, it helps to protect the skin and keep it healthy plus it smells AMAZING!

HOW TO USE
Apply a generous amount and scrub it on a circular motion on the parts you want to lighten like elbows, underarms, knees and the area between the thighs, but you can also use it all over the body. Be sure to apply it on dry skin to easily remove dead skin cells. You can let it stay for 5 minutes then rinse with water. Personally I use it 3x a week for more effectiveness.

PRICE
135g = P80
250g = P130
You can buy it at Department Stores, Watsons, Mercury Drug Store and 711.

MY EXPERIENCE
I've been using it religiously for a month now and I can see the difference. Though it does not totally lighten up the skin but it helps to quicken the process if you are using other whitening products, and it eliminates dead skin cells. What I love most is that it does not irritate my skin and again I LOVE THE SMELL. Thumbs up for this Body Scrub!

Alfarsi | A Persian Food Adventure

11.13.2015
If you are looking for food adventure and want to get out of the box of the usual fast food restaus, Maginhawa Street is the place for you. Cafes, bars and restaurants sprung everywhere giving opportunities for foodies and entrepreneurs to showcase great food. Maginahawa offers a long line of variety food from filipino, japanese, chinese, italian and a lot more, this place has everything!

This November I finally visited Maginhawa Street and was overwhelmed on how many food places there are. I was looking through signs and names of food places, dahil sa dami naka 3 balik kami sa Maginhawa haha! Finally I decided to try out Alfarsi Persian Grill. They have 2 branches in Maginhawa so if you can't find a good parking spot there is always another branch to go :)

Alfarsi Persian Grill is the new Persian Craze in Quezon City, it has been featured in Poptalk. They serve a wide variety of Persian Cuisine with Filipino twist to suite Pinoy taste buds.

You can opt to eat outside or inside, we prefer inside as it's cozier :)

Their Menu which offers appetizers, plate meals, wraps, chicken, beef, pies, best sellers and specials.

Sauces for the food, they have garlic cheese, garlic original, garlic pepper and the super hot sauce! Personally I liked the Garlic Original.

Their creative and colorful wall! It's full of photos and notes from previous customers :)

Interior of Alfarsi, it's a bit dark inside because of the lighting but the interior looks good with colorful walls. The left side has long tables with couches and the other side only has chairs.

(Chicken Tandoori Plate Meal - P135)

My plate! I ordered their Chicken Tandoori Plate meal. The meat was tender and I loved the flavors! Of course for the siding they have grilled onions and tomatoes. Although the butter already melted on top of the rice, it was still delicious. The chicken was drizzled with their sauce and I added garlic sauce and hot sauce. I love this plate meal!

(Combo Kebab Plate Meal - P160)

Kev's plate consisted of a beef and chicken kebab. Both of them are rich in flavors and the serving was right. I like the chicken kebab than the beef hehe.

(Blueberry Cheesecake)

Cheesecake for dessert as usual hehe. The cheesecake was very creamy, I think it melted a bit. The blueberry sauce tasted great and the actual blueberries.

Alfarsi brought good food, the price and serving is fair. The only cons we noticed is that it's a bit dark and the plate is a bit small, but aside from that we're fine. Will I go back? Of course YES!

24th | Barkin' Blends

11.09.2015
A wish come true. Another place I wanted to visit ever since I heard about it. As some of you may know I'm very fond of dogs, i love dogs, they make me happy and relaxed. Last October, on my birthday, I grabbed the opportunity to come this animal friendly spot at Katipunan.
Barkin' Blends was launched September 2014 wherein they provide an avenue of relaxation for guests. Unlike other cafe they created this atmosphere where humans and dogs can interact with each other. The cafe houses its own dog residents where they are well taken care of.

Coco (upper left), Smile (upper right), Piolo (lower right)

Psyche (beagle)

The cafe has 2 parts, human zone and dog zone. The human zone is where you buy food, drinks, and your ticket to the dog zone. While the dog zone is where you interact with the very very cute and friendly dogs. The ticket cost for the dog zone is P190 which is sulit, inclusive of a drink of your choice either coffee, milk tea, fruit tea and I forgot the other one haha, plus 2 hours with the dogs.

The dog zone is roomy where it can hold 30 people at a time. The place is very clean and you won't smell the usual scent of dogs. All in all they have 23 dogs of different breed, hindi lang lahat nakalabas so that some of them can rest, dogs can be stressed too. You can hold them and carry them, just ask assistance from the staff. Tho this is a place for dogs unfortunately we can't bring our own furry friends for safety purposes of the housed dogs.

This is Finn, he can count well! Pati addition kaya niya.

By the time that we're there a lot of them are asleep, tired I guess, but it's still a great experience. I spent two fine hours with these furry friends,I had so much fun interacting with the dogs, petting them and holding them. If I can do this weekly I would kung hindi lang malayo hehe. I'll see them again soon!

24th | Backyard Kitchen + Brew

11.05.2015

I've always loved to eat, try out new cuisines, new restaurants and new experiences. There's this little girl inside me whose always telling me to try new things and I did! Last October was my birthday and again I had my little adventure with food.

Backyard Kitchen + Brew, the newest venture of Chef Ed Bugia which will be celebrating their first year this December! Ever since I saw their interview on Poptalk I always had this eagerness to try out their food. So on my birthday I got the chance to eat at this cool, tambayan place.

(My apologies for lack of photos of the place!)

(Lemonade - P25)
We ordered their Lemonade which tasted really good!

(Baked Potato Soup - P165)
I love potatoes! Kahit ano basta may patatas. I was excited to see they have potato soup with bacon and cheddar cheese! You can taste the potatoes as it is the strongest, good thing the bacon is there to balance it out and add a bit of alat.

(Salted Egg Chicken Skin - P205)
Putok Batok! haha but this one is actually good. The chicken skin dressed with the salted egg plus the vinegar! Kanin nalang pwede na!

(Chicken Salpicao Ricec - P395)
Honestly I didn't expect that I'll love this dish! The presentation is gorgeous, everything placed in a wooden bowl. The chicken meat was tender and I loved the garlic cloves it doesn't taste bitter, plus the cute tomatoes which I thought was grapes at first haha!

(Roasted Beef Belly Salpicao Rice - P435)
This one WOW-ed us with it's big serving! You can opt to barley and quinoa if you want to eat healthier.

(Pizzookie - P385)
This I looked forward to! This chocolate chip cookie is topped with 2 scoops of Mantecado ice cream with a bit of chocolate glaze. So far this is the BEST!

As you can see I finished the whole plate! haha kidding.

I celebrated my birthday with good food and good company. I enjoyed my dine as the staff were all polite and attentive. This is definitely a great place to enjoy with friends!

Velvet Skincare | For Greater Skin

10.03.2015
Organic Products hit it again! I know I have given a review earlier to another product, but I can't help it! Organic Products are the bomb! These products are not only effective but also very affordable! Last week I received these goodies from my friend who sells organic beauty products, hi Khristel! These products are from Velvet Skincare, BFAD and Dermatologist approved so no need to be scared to try them. They sell a lot of products, ranging from your face to your eyelashes, and anywhere there's skin. By the way they all smell GREAT!

(Power Balm - P275)
One of their best selling products. I've always wanted to buy one of these because they are great for scars, dark elbows and knees, bikini lines, ankles, dark spots and even butt area! Power Balm is made from Rosehip's oil, argan oil, jojoba oil and papaya extract! So it doesn't just whitens the skin but also smoothens it. Good thing babies and pregnant women can use this great balm. I love the scent of this!
Directions:
Use 2x a day, after bath and before sleeping.

(Oh La Lash - P150)
Oh La Lash of course are for the lashes. The applicator looks like a mascara applicator so it's easier to use and us girls are already familiar with. Right now I have problems with my eyelashes as they were accidentally trimmed by my curler (tip: always place a rubber, a good rubber, on your curler para di kayo maputulan ng eyelashes) This product claims that it can grow and thicken your lashes 2-3x in just 7-10 days! I'm super excited to see benefits from this.
Directions:
Use 2x a day, after bath and before sleeping.

(Unzit Cookie Soap - P200)
Milk, that's what I remember from this because it smells like milk. If I can just eat it! hahaha. Unzit Cookie Soap is the perfect soap for those who has dry skin, black heads of even acne. This will prevent all those marks that we ladies are scared to have! It has active ingredients like witchazel extracts, BHa, vegan oils, anti inflammatory herbal extracts. No need to be worried using this!
Directions:
Let the soap soak for about 1-2 minutes on the face and then rinse. It can be used for bacne, let it soak for 3-5 minutes.

(Berry Soap - P250)
Last is the Berry Soap which smells awesome too. It has intense micro peeling to get rid of those old skin and give you newer whiter skin! It can give you results as early as 7 days so that's great.
Directions:
Let it soak for 3-5 minutes and then rinse.

All these products are safe to use and are affordable! I will surely buy these to maintain that white and glowing skin.

K&L Cafe | From Baguio to the Metro

9.26.2015
Looking for a wooden-modern-rustic-cozy atmosphere? Some of us think it can only be found in Baguio, but last October a place called K & L Cafe by Blushing Cupcakes brought Baguio to the Metro. This modern rustic cafe is located at White Plains in front of Pan De Amerikana.

Sisters Karen and Loren are the owners sharing their childhood memories of Baguio from the interior to the ingredients of their delicious food. They aim to reenergize the body and mind with their food. K & L Cafe is also the sister brand of Blushing Cupcakes which specializes in cupcakes.

In a little spot you can buy some of Baguio favorites like peanut brittle, strawberry wine, mikasan chocolate flakes, Baguio Honey, Choco Tablea and even things like walis and bayong. No need to travel 6 hours just to buy that Baguio favorite, now you can have it faster.

Menu. I can say that I like how they showed their menu, it's very simple but you can feel at home and closer to the place.

Now their food!

(Chicken and Mushroom - P185)
Here I ordered their recommended Chicken and Mushroom, all I can say is IT'S THE BEST! It was a good choice, a complete meal with mixed brown and white rice, sided with corn, carrots and greens. The mushroom sauce is the BOMB! For me it's the winner because I love sauces like this, it's like the one you can use in Carbonara. Plus the chicken is not dry and is well seasoned.

(Daddy's Bourbon American Ribs - P295)
While Kevin ordered another recommended dish which is the Daddy's Bourbon American Ribs. We were a bit wow-ed by the serving size because it's very generous. The meat is tender and very juicy and it has more meat than bones :) Again it is served with mixed brown and white rice, corn, carrots and greens. While the sauce for the ribs.

(Famous Strawberry Calamansi - P95)
I usually don't order drinks but the staff again recommended their famous strawberry calamansi drink. You may think the 2 main ingredients would not come great together but they are very refreshing! I liked the strawberry bits.

(Grandma's Iced Vanilla Milk - P95)
Another drink is their vanilla iced milk which has bits of chocolate on top. A very refreshing drink, feels like I'm home! I loved the presentation where you drink at small shot-like glass.

(Mocha Dream Cake - P70)
The three layered cake which was moist and delicious of course.

They also offer cheesecakes where sadly I didn't get to try, but i will next time!

The price is just right for the quality of food they serve, plus their friendly and accommodating staff. The time we ate here good thing we saw one of the owners, Loren, very accommodating. I had a very fun time in this cafe. Kinilig ako for sure with their food! K & L Cafe definitely gave an awesome mark for me. Not only does the place gives that cozy atmosphere but SULIT every bite!
