Hapag Heritage Cuisine

10.28.2016
Restaurants and other food businesses are booming everywhere, food parks, innovated food presentation and fusions of different cuisines. As Filipinos we love to try out new dishes but let's not forget how our own culture cooks. In the famous street of Maginhawa we discovered a restaurant where old school filipino dishes are served, Hapag Heritage Cuisine.

Opened last September 28 Hapag Heritage Cuisine is still on their soft opening. The restaurant is a homey, old school, nostalgic restaurant which serves their loved homemade filipino dishes. What's great about them is they make everything from scratch, no msg and food enhancement so everything is authentic and top quality. They wanted to serve and bring back traditional and native food since right now what we mostly see are infused or modern filipino dishes and share to the youth and even bring back memories to our lolos and lolas.

From the food to the interiors, Hapag has stepped up by reminding us our heritage through the interiors and share to us what they serve at home. You will notice the wooden tables and chairs, cabinets and sto. ninos which you can see at our grandparents's house. Another great thing is they have displays of paintings from Cottolengo Filipino, which is a non-profit organization for the abandoned, neglected persons with disabilities.

Now on to their food.

RIPE MANGO SMOOTHIE (P120)
OH MY GOSH, this is one of the best mango smoothies I've ever tasted. It has an ice cream like texture and the taste is perfect! I love how it was presented in a "halo halo" like baso. The price represents for the taste, and you'll never go wrong with mango :)

LANGKA SMOOTHIE (P120) SEASONAL
I was never a fan of langka but this tasted wonderful! Again it has that ice cream like texture, you can just scoop it with a spoon!

MANOK NG HAPAG (P470 WHOLE)
Of course I will never miss out on chicken. This is their signature chicken served on a dahon ng saging. The chicken is tender and very tasteful especially the skin. You should look out for this one.

GINISANG HIPON SA TABA NG TALANGKA (P480)
Taba ng talangka, I know when older people hear that they stay away from it haha! Since people with high blood pressure avoids it but good thing I'm not one of them. Oh the sauce is tasteful with the salted egg topping, this whole dish is complete. The sizes and serving of the shrimp are generous.

TINAPA RICE (P240 PLATTER)
Yes for tinapa! This whole platter can stand alone since it has tinapa flakes, salted egg and diced tomatoes. This was recommended to us and it's one of the must try. The serving is good for 2-3 people.

CRISPY PATA NI IMA (P595)
As a Filipino what I first said after seeing this is "putok batok" hahaha! Their Crispy Pata is magnefique plus the sauce it comes with. The skin is crispy and the meat is flavorful, it's definitely to order.

SINIGANG NA SALMON SA MISO (P380)
I've tasted sinampalukang manok, sinigang na baboy but not salmon yet. Since their food aren't cooked with msg the sour taste in this dish is very authentic, it kicks at the end and I like that. The salmon was cooked perfectly!

PANDAN-MACAPUNO CHEESECAKE (P120)
When I think of cheesecake what comes to mind is blueberries or mango but this is different. Infused with a filipino culture now you can taste a pandan cheesecake! I was surprised with this one since it's new to me. The texture is exactly like a cheesecake but with a pandan taste. This is a must try!

ENSAYMADITAS WITH CHORIZO BILBAO
Hapag will soon expand their menus and this is one of their upcoming merienda, Ensaymaditas. Ensaymada topped with 3 kinds of cheese plus chorizo.

ENSAYMADITAS WITH TINAPA FLAKES
Again they never fail to surprise me because their ensaymaditas with tinapa flakes did! I did not expect how well cheese and tinapa flakes will go perfectly with ensaymada. It's a mixture of sweet and savory. I'm not sure yet with the price tho but this is good for meriendas.

Please do watch this video :)

Hapag Heritage Cuisine is definitely a must try. Filipino families will enjoy their dining experience in this homey restaurant. The service provided is A+ with the staffs hospitality and attentiveness to the customers' needs. This is a casual dining but the service is hotel-like. Plus another good thing is the parking space in front of the restaurant. All in all my dining experience is wonderful! If I should come back again I will bring my family :) Thank you Hapag for this! Hippie Tipi | Cutest Hangout Place in Marikina

10.19.2016
Food parks and restaurants have been booming everywhere and Lilac Marikina is one of them. We've found this newly opened hip restaurant where students and barkadas would love to hang out! Hippie Tipi is not your traditional italian place instead it's a trendy, comforting, hip and camping vibe spot. Owned by three UST graduating students, Amper, Kianna and Pauline, started when a simple lasagna was brought to their school and made them pursue and create this business.

What made them different from others is their unique dining experience where you can eat inside a teepee, filled with pillows, wooden tables and carpets! With their clean and monochromatic theme you'll surely find this place relaxing and a great spot for hangout! By the way they have a guitar where you can jam with your friends :) So prepare your instagram guys because this place will make your feed #goals.

ON TO THE FOOD!

MIDNIGHT KICK (P89) *best seller
The perfect drink! A mixture of lychees, peaches and white soda, this is the best! A perfect match for your lasagna or pizza.

COCO MANGO (P79)
Their coco mango is a thirst quencher! Made from mangoes and coconut milk, this is a perfect drink for the summer.

CHEESY BEEF (P189) *best seller
With the signature italian thin crust pizza, their best seller is the cheesy beef. All I can is say thank you for the generous amount of ingredients! This pizza will not let you down.

GOLDEN MOZZARELLA (P99) *best seller
I love how this tasted with the crispy outer layer and how it's perfectly cooked! The mozzarella inside shied away just a tad but other than that I'm good.

LASAGNA (P129) *best seller
YES FOR MORE CHEESE! Their humble and generous lasagna is on point! With it's creamy and cheesy texture this dish should not be forgotten.

If your looking for affordable italian food and cute place to hangout Hippie Tipi should not be missed.

The Sinful Bucket

10.05.2016
Don't you just sometimes have a bad or stressful day at work or school? Maybe want to lift off some steam and indulge in food? Maybe a little cheat day? In a land where people try hard to eat healthy, I present to you THE SINFUL BUCKET. A newly opened sandwich joint at Communeaty, Tomas Morato where their original Crispy Fried Sandwiches are served.

Owned by couple Mabelle and Dax started way back 2013 when what they only made were Tuna spread sandwiches that sold out instantly day 1 in their office. Years passed with endless practice and come 2016 they ventured into having their own Sandwich Joint, with the help of a friend, and The Sinful Bucket was born.

What made them different among others are the sandwiches used where it's handmade, the texture, how they are cooked and different bread per sandwich.

WARNING: These sandwiches are indulgence sandwich, nothing healthy since they are fried and liberated, also great for pulutan or partnered with coffee. Now on to tasty sandwiches!

CHEESY BACON (P139)
Deep fried sandwich with homemade creamy Jalapeno sauce, bacon bits, mushroom and mozzarella cheese is one of their best sellers, plus it's great for kids. I like it dipped into their signature marinara sauce! By the way one order is good for sharing!

CRISPERONI (P139)
Another of their Crispy Fried Sandwich is their Crisperoni, like the Cheesy Bacon the only difference is the pepperoni, pizza sauce and cheddar cheese. This one I liked better since you can taste clearly the pepperoni.

THE HEARTLESS (P199)
This one is for the barako boys which is best paired with a beer. This sandwich is wrapped with 6-12 bacons WOW, this is a clear competitor for the Zark's bacon wrapped burger! Inside is a sunny side up egg with 3 cheese that tastes subtle, glazed with bacon maple syrup. On the side are fries, ketchup and bacon maple syrup. This one I love!!!! Dipped it to the syrup and I was sold.

WICKED CHICKS (P185)
Spicy tender chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato, onion and french fries toppings. This wow-ed me when they served it. It was huge! But we managed to eat it. The cheese sauce on top is perfect! Sided by cheetos, ketchup and barbeque sauce. It's best dipped to the barbeque sauce.

CHOCO BANANA SMORES TOAST (P125)
I cried eating this hahaha! This sandwich has bananas, hazelnut sauce, vanilla sauce and semi melted marshmallows, great for kids! As of now this is their only dessert available.

MABELLE AND DAX
The Sinful Bucket offers other sandwiches too so you better check their spot! By this time they are still on the progress of evolving their sandwiches plus expanding! They will soon be adding pasta and maybe a chocolate drink :) By the way you can order their food online too plus other lunches! Just check Dab's Kitchen to go.

All in all my experience was great! The owners were very accommodating and the food was great tho they can still improve. Super nakakabusog and I love it! Great price, great serving, generous amount.
