Alfarsi | A Persian Food Adventure

11.13.2015
If you are looking for food adventure and want to get out of the box of the usual fast food restaus, Maginhawa Street is the place for you. Cafes, bars and restaurants sprung everywhere giving opportunities for foodies and entrepreneurs to showcase great food. Maginahawa offers a long line of variety food from filipino, japanese, chinese, italian and a lot more, this place has everything!

This November I finally visited Maginhawa Street and was overwhelmed on how many food places there are. I was looking through signs and names of food places, dahil sa dami naka 3 balik kami sa Maginhawa haha! Finally I decided to try out Alfarsi Persian Grill. They have 2 branches in Maginhawa so if you can't find a good parking spot there is always another branch to go :)

Alfarsi Persian Grill is the new Persian Craze in Quezon City, it has been featured in Poptalk. They serve a wide variety of Persian Cuisine with Filipino twist to suite Pinoy taste buds.

You can opt to eat outside or inside, we prefer inside as it's cozier :)

Their Menu which offers appetizers, plate meals, wraps, chicken, beef, pies, best sellers and specials.

Sauces for the food, they have garlic cheese, garlic original, garlic pepper and the super hot sauce! Personally I liked the Garlic Original.

Their creative and colorful wall! It's full of photos and notes from previous customers :)

Interior of Alfarsi, it's a bit dark inside because of the lighting but the interior looks good with colorful walls. The left side has long tables with couches and the other side only has chairs.

(Chicken Tandoori Plate Meal - P135)

My plate! I ordered their Chicken Tandoori Plate meal. The meat was tender and I loved the flavors! Of course for the siding they have grilled onions and tomatoes. Although the butter already melted on top of the rice, it was still delicious. The chicken was drizzled with their sauce and I added garlic sauce and hot sauce. I love this plate meal!

(Combo Kebab Plate Meal - P160)

Kev's plate consisted of a beef and chicken kebab. Both of them are rich in flavors and the serving was right. I like the chicken kebab than the beef hehe.

(Blueberry Cheesecake)

Cheesecake for dessert as usual hehe. The cheesecake was very creamy, I think it melted a bit. The blueberry sauce tasted great and the actual blueberries.

Alfarsi brought good food, the price and serving is fair. The only cons we noticed is that it's a bit dark and the plate is a bit small, but aside from that we're fine. Will I go back? Of course YES!

24th | Barkin' Blends

11.09.2015
A wish come true. Another place I wanted to visit ever since I heard about it. As some of you may know I'm very fond of dogs, i love dogs, they make me happy and relaxed. Last October, on my birthday, I grabbed the opportunity to come this animal friendly spot at Katipunan.
Barkin' Blends was launched September 2014 wherein they provide an avenue of relaxation for guests. Unlike other cafe they created this atmosphere where humans and dogs can interact with each other. The cafe houses its own dog residents where they are well taken care of.

Coco (upper left), Smile (upper right), Piolo (lower right)

Psyche (beagle)

The cafe has 2 parts, human zone and dog zone. The human zone is where you buy food, drinks, and your ticket to the dog zone. While the dog zone is where you interact with the very very cute and friendly dogs. The ticket cost for the dog zone is P190 which is sulit, inclusive of a drink of your choice either coffee, milk tea, fruit tea and I forgot the other one haha, plus 2 hours with the dogs.

The dog zone is roomy where it can hold 30 people at a time. The place is very clean and you won't smell the usual scent of dogs. All in all they have 23 dogs of different breed, hindi lang lahat nakalabas so that some of them can rest, dogs can be stressed too. You can hold them and carry them, just ask assistance from the staff. Tho this is a place for dogs unfortunately we can't bring our own furry friends for safety purposes of the housed dogs.

This is Finn, he can count well! Pati addition kaya niya.

By the time that we're there a lot of them are asleep, tired I guess, but it's still a great experience. I spent two fine hours with these furry friends,I had so much fun interacting with the dogs, petting them and holding them. If I can do this weekly I would kung hindi lang malayo hehe. I'll see them again soon!

24th | Backyard Kitchen + Brew

11.05.2015

I've always loved to eat, try out new cuisines, new restaurants and new experiences. There's this little girl inside me whose always telling me to try new things and I did! Last October was my birthday and again I had my little adventure with food.

Backyard Kitchen + Brew, the newest venture of Chef Ed Bugia which will be celebrating their first year this December! Ever since I saw their interview on Poptalk I always had this eagerness to try out their food. So on my birthday I got the chance to eat at this cool, tambayan place.

(My apologies for lack of photos of the place!)

(Lemonade - P25)
We ordered their Lemonade which tasted really good!

(Baked Potato Soup - P165)
I love potatoes! Kahit ano basta may patatas. I was excited to see they have potato soup with bacon and cheddar cheese! You can taste the potatoes as it is the strongest, good thing the bacon is there to balance it out and add a bit of alat.

(Salted Egg Chicken Skin - P205)
Putok Batok! haha but this one is actually good. The chicken skin dressed with the salted egg plus the vinegar! Kanin nalang pwede na!

(Chicken Salpicao Ricec - P395)
Honestly I didn't expect that I'll love this dish! The presentation is gorgeous, everything placed in a wooden bowl. The chicken meat was tender and I loved the garlic cloves it doesn't taste bitter, plus the cute tomatoes which I thought was grapes at first haha!

(Roasted Beef Belly Salpicao Rice - P435)
This one WOW-ed us with it's big serving! You can opt to barley and quinoa if you want to eat healthier.

(Pizzookie - P385)
This I looked forward to! This chocolate chip cookie is topped with 2 scoops of Mantecado ice cream with a bit of chocolate glaze. So far this is the BEST!

As you can see I finished the whole plate! haha kidding.

I celebrated my birthday with good food and good company. I enjoyed my dine as the staff were all polite and attentive. This is definitely a great place to enjoy with friends!
